As the drudgery of mining operations ensue in the fertile Cadrel Expanse, the Rebel Squadrons mandate to protect the newly acquired planets, arriving colonists, and flourishing mining industry is as vigilant as ever. A full year has passed since the final battle of the Cadrel Expanse Conflict, which has significantly become known as the Outer Rim War to galactic spectators. The lasting peace has cultivated growth out of the turmoil of what once was a protracted and bloody war. As the ever-watchful guardians of the Cadrel Expanse, the Rebel Squadrons have constructed bases and outposts, as well as sent Fleets to safeguard the transportation of the immense amount of natural resources and other valuable minerals that are found throughout the territory. Reaping huge profit margins from their new territory, the New Republic is busily cultivating the new resources by dispensing contracts to private industry. Consequently, numerous trade federations and mining conglomerates have swarmed to the sector in order to try and get their hands on a share of the wealth.
Watching this success, the defeated neighbors of the Rebel Squadrons jealously eye the lucrative trade that is adjacent to their own domains. The Empire has successfully reeled from defeat, and especially watches with envy from the only Imperial held system in the Cadrel Expanse, the Elornia System. Now a deadly thorn in the Rebel Squadrons' side, this system has been fortified by the Imperials to the point that any hope for a successful assault would take the majority of the Rebel Squadrons' manpower. Despite the fact that the Fleets of the Rebel Squadrons are already blockading the system, each side has sent numerous forces to the area, and the Imperials are waiting for just the right moment to break out and avenge their past defeats in the Cadrel Expanse. The Imperial war machine desperately needs the readily available resources that the Expanse has to offer, and if they can catch the Rebel Squadrons off their guard, then they just may be able to turn the tables on the entire Cadrel Expanse…
Even so, New Republic High Command has recently issued orders for the Rebel Squadrons to make a preemptive attack and invade the Elornia System to finally secure the Expanse. After capturing this system, it is the hope of High Command that it will not only secure the Cadrel Expanse’s borders, but it will act as a springboard into Imperial territory, namely the adjacent Binaural Sector. Only then can the New Republic once and for all finish off the Imperial Remnant in this sector of the galaxy…
And so the seeds of another Outer Rim War have been sown…
