The Genji System

The Genji System is the site of an Old Republic expeditionary outpost. Situated on the sole moon of the world of Tenchi is the only man-made structure in the entire system. The Old Republic created the outpost to listen for communications from extra-galactical beings. The system is barren and nearly devoid of life, and the only other point of interest is a giant asteroid field. The system's one star is a white mature star, surrounded by three worlds.

Planets:

Shotoku: The first planet on the fringes of the system, Shotoku is a cold and entirely frozen planet. Amazingly, the entire surface of the planet is covered with a blanket of ice that is at least one thousand feet deep at every point. Some geologists argue that the planet never had a continental mass at all. Interest in the planet is a bare minimum, and it is assumed that there is nothing of value to be had on Shotoku.

Shoen: The second world in the system is a ringed planetoid. The ring consists of thousands of large, high density asteroids. The planet Shoen itself is simply a rock. While it has habitable temperatures, debris has made the atmosphere highly hostile. There are signs that bodies of water, vegetation and limited life once existed on the surface, but everything has been destroyed by asteroid crashes. Asteroid hits mark the surface of Shoen with thousands of craters. Of more interest to the warring fleets of the present is the asteroids still in orbit in the ring. Each asteroid seems to be crammed with the raw metals needed to create transparisteel. The exact origin of the asteroids in the ring is also the source of continuous debate in scholarly circles.

Tenchi: The most inward planet of the system, Tenchi is also one of the least attractive. Still in its formative stages, the planet is a mass of tempestuous activity. Hundreds of active volcanoes dot the landmasses, and the few water bodies on the planet remain at toasty temperatures just below evaporation year-round. Not even bacterium can live in these conditions.
Shonagon: Tenchi's moon, this is the one planetoid with somewhat livable conditions. Several species of plant life and hardy reptilians live on the surface of the moon, which may explain why the Old Republic chose to place their listening facility here. The facility itself is using centuries old equipment, and is of no strategic value.
