Brigadier General Slyder McGrath sat behind his desk, spinning the pencil between the fingers of his right hand. The paperwork had mounted, the least to expect from the defeat of thier last enemy. Kunder....Admiral Kunder had been a personal enemy of the General's since before he could remember. He had lead Red Squadron against Kunder in a Tour to recapture a friendly alien homeworld. This last escape left a bitter, dry taste in the Generals mouth. The buzzer to the door chimmed, half startling the General, causing him to spill a pile of paperwork.
"Sith spit....WHO IS IT?!"
There was a brief moment of silence untill the raspy computerized vocal chips of the door translated.
"It's Spokes sir...you wanted to see me?"
Slyder took a sigh of reliefe...at least he'd have something to get his mind of the blasted paperwork.
With a heavy outlet of breath, he replied twoards no one in particular, "Come."
The hydraulic whine of the door announced the General. Spokes was looking wrather chipper. The academy was going well, and they had just wrapped up another tour themselves.
Slyder girmmaced at the smile forming acroos Spokes' brow. "What are you so happy about?" he asked.
Spokes took a moment to reply...and burst forth with a slight chukle. "Cause I don't have this many dead trees sitting in MY office..."
"Funny...great." Slyder said, a heavy accent of sarcasm slipping from his tongue.
"By the way," Spokes went on while reaching over to help Slyder, who was allready on the floor picking up the mounds of paper he had knowcked over, "what IS all this for anyway?"
"Ah, wrap up reports, nothign special...some nominations for certain pilots that preformed well....that's all. But I gotta fill it out in triplicate..."
Spokes looked puzzled. "Aaaannnyyyyway. What did you call me in here for?"
Slyder's expression grew a litle more somber. "Take a seat." he said, gesturing to the vacant chair in front of a desk. Spokes looked at it, and sat down. The Hydraulic whine from the door closing was all that was heard outside the office.

Space was silent. Floating through, everything would seem at peace...particles of dibris from battles long since over still remained in a lazy tumble. The bright light from a not so distant star left the apperance of a snow storm in space...small refractions of light bouncing from all the metalic substances floating around. When looking at something like that, one could feel calm. Untill sublight kicks in. 4 Freighters arrived ahead of scheduel, their momentum and force sent the particles scattering in all directions, as if someone had turn the lights on to find fulneer beetles scavenging for a hiding space.
A quiet deck situated in the lower front center of the two bulky freight containers. One small window in the front of that, tinted to protect it's small crew's eyes from the glare of the natural light. Captain Di'verok sat in hsi chair, completely at ease.
"Sir, our escorts report they had a problem getting their hyperdrive to start right after they launched. Support will be here to meet us shortly. We will wait here, then continue the trip." The low ranking comms officer sat in his chair, as his duty required...merely barking what the computer told him to tell the captain.
Di'verok turned to look at the new officer...all the time holding his calm gaze.
"That's fine Lieutenant. All stop...signal the other ships. Well wait here before proceeding to the Halas sector."

"We will be sending one A-wing here," Slyder said as he pointed to the holo map in the middle of breifing room 2. "We have been receiving some strange signals from the Halas sector. It could be an Imperial Shiping lane. Your goal, is to jump in sector, and identify every ship, to inform us of exactly what the Empire is deeming important to get their hands on now. Be warned though, the Halas Sector is well out of Long range scans, so we have no idea what is going out there, hence the precaution on this mission. They will more then likely have backup, so wacth your six. We need to know what is up."
The room was filled with eager pilots, who's "number" had been drawn for this mission. It was an easy one, just a simple recon run.
Slyder paused to meet the eyes of every pilot in the room, trying to see if there was anything he forgot to go over. Everyone looked confident. "Any questions?"
There was silence.
"Good...so who's gunna volunteer???"

Note:: This is a nice simple mission to eas into the tour. However, pay atention to what you are dooing...look for hints...these things might come back and bite you in the butt later on ;) WELCOME TO TOUR 4!!!

New News:

1) New FireClaw CO
After two weeks of a trial period, Licah Fox has proved to be a variable capable leader of the squad. With their impressive victory on 312, it shows that Licah's leardership skills are just what they need. It is my honor to grant Licah the permanent CO spot for FC. Congrats!

2) TOD 3 OVER!
That's it folks...tour 3 is over. It's been a long drawn out tour, mostly to the fact that after Jorval became CO, the story was lost, and he as well as myself did what we could to improvise. It's caused some rocky water...but it's done. I am VERY impressed with the turnout. I was contacted by another CO of another RS fleet wanting to know how THE PBFCS got 2/3 of our fleet to fly. I am sure a lot of that was there to show TOUR 3 out the window...but activity is on the rise, and with a brand new, excelently planned and tested tour....4 should bring us even more activity.

3) Awards Ceremony
Myself, Spoks and Fion are working on giving an official Awards ceremony on Tour 3. We have just begun preliminary stuff for it, so don't expect it soon...give us some time, but we PROMISE there will be one...so have that to look forward too.

4)Reporting incentives
Myself and the entire CS are in talks right now about special flying/reporting incentives. No final agreement on it yet...but the incentives will be there to be given to squads with high activity reporting wise per mission. Look forward to more news shortly on this topic.

5) Welcome to TOUR 4!
I am sending this through the RS roster DB...so I will be sending out an email over the CO list with the mission, start buggin your COs for it.

Old News:

1) Tour 3 is wrapping up
That's right folks...were almost done here! Tour four just got it's first mission developed...and testing is beeing done on it as we speak. Look forward to that starting early next month...

2) New academy requirements
Hc has been convening on ideas brought up by RS memebers...and have finally decided on a vote for this topic. All cadets will now be required to fly three missions to graduate. In order to graduate with honors...a bio is required, however optional for standard graduation.

3) Project Templar is now is effect
Members of the PBF have started a new "Think Tank" orginization for the fleet in oder to develope new and plausible ideas to increase the enjoyment of the fleet. Look forward to any new developments comming from there.

4.) New PBF reporting

>From now on when you go to send in a MR, send it to the email address,
pbfreports@yahoogroups.com and cc your squad CO. This will make it easier
for you to send in, by not having to put all of our emails on it.
Also note...the MRM medal is not out yet...we are still debating over who should get it...look forward for that next week...

***Refer to the New News section, Article 5***

Please note that the ASCI symbol for the PBF MRM has changed and has been
added to the RS Medals Database. Anyone who has recieved a MRM in the past
and does not have it reflected in their Profile needs to forward a copy of
the MR, if still available, to BGN Spokes.

The current Patriot Battle Fleet mission is:

PBF 401

The deadline for the current mission is:

March 31, 2002

You can download the current mission at:

http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/pbf/missions.html

Send reports with pilot files attached to:

pbfreports@yahoogroups.com

Plus your own squadron CO and/or squadron egroup.

The rules for flying the mission are:

1) You may run this mission as many times as you like but you MUST
get the MISSION COMPLETE message and have a valid *.plt file in order
to be eligible for the PBF Medal of victory. In addition, any score
not accompanied by a pilot file for verification will NOT be counted
by the PBF Command Staff.

2) Run the mission as "defect.xwi" ( this will place it as X-Wing
X-Wing TOD 1 Mission 1 ) so that your stats will be recorded in your
*.plt file.

3) Make a new pilot file to run the mission. If you fail the mission
and wish to run it again make sure to use a new pilot file instead of
re-running it with the same pilot. Any pilot file found to be
"unclean" will result in the score NOT being counted by the PBF
Command Staff.

4) Destroying "Friendly" craft to pad ones stats is strictly
prohibited. *.plt files containing "Rebel" craft kills will be
considered invalid.

5) You should also include a written report with your score laser/ion
shots and hits, missile shots and hits and kill totals in the email.

6) Pilot files will be manually calculated using the Official PBF
Standard scoring chart for X-wing. Anyone interested in obtaining a
copy of this chart, can email me to do so.

7) No individual scores will be changed after the deadline! If a
report is submitted that is never received at the report address
given above, it will not be added after the deadline. Neither will
the PBF CO accept a late pilot file. The only thing that can be
changed afterwards are errors made by the Command Staff.

8) There is a Fleet Wide competition based on this tour. Every pilot
who sends in a valid report will receive 1 merit point. The pilot
with the best overall score for the mission will be awarded a special
PBF Top Gun medal, along with receiving a 5 point bonus in the PBF
Merit System. In addition participating members from the squadron
with the best overall combined score will receive 5 bonus merit
points in addition to "Top Squadron" bragging rights. Also, the pilot
with the top score for each squadron (excluding the winning squadron,
and Top Gun) will receive 3 bonus PBF merit points. The reporting
members of the Squadrons on 2nd and 3rd places will get 2 bonus PBF
merit points.

*Note* In the even that the Top Pilot for the mission also happens to
be in the Top Squadron he may only receive the 5 bonus Credits for
one or the other. Same thing applies to each squadron Top Pilot and
2nd and 3rd place squadrons.

9) Mail problems including undelivered mail and corrupted *.plt files
are not the responsibility of the PBF command staff. If your *.plt file
becomes corrupted and you do not include a written accounting,
then your score will be counted as "0".

10) If a pilot retires from the PBF at any time during the course of
an active mission after having submitted a report, his report will no
longer count for his former squadron. He will still receive credit
for running the mission, but will be listed as "Inactive".

11) If a pilot transfers from one PBF squadron to another (such as
attaining a squadron CO position) during the course of an active
mission after having submitted a report, his report will will now
count towards the newfound squadron.
