Competition Will End After Turn 12

This upcoming Saturday will be the last turn in the competition. It's gone on for three months, we have one team eliminated, and there are too few matches being played to keep going on.

Several problems will be addressed after the end of the competition. I'll post a list of the changes to the different clubs when they are completed, and if people agree, we can have another go at it in a few months.

Thanks for playing everyone!

Changes for Turn 6

- Ladder scores were again adjusted. Losing a match now lowers your score by 2.5% of your current score, rounding down. This should keep people from dropping too low.

- We had some issues with people modifying the destinations of their attacks after matches had been reported. You should not have ever been allowed to do this, and it was my oversight that it was not coded. It is now coded, so changing attacks once a match is posted to it is no longer possible.

- I have plans to change defense to make it actually do something. I was thinking that I could have it set up to have the reporting script not auto-assign an undeclared attack to the defense of a planet you do not have set to defend. I'll see how this goes later in the week.

- Bentec and Dessan are now match reporters.

Updates For Turn 4

- Reporters can now update matches. The Turn and Attack for the match cannot be updated yet, only the scores, players, and game played. This will be useful for fixing reporting errors.

- Matches can now be posted without an associated attack and display properly. If two teams are not attacking each other on the map, but players from each team attack each other, the match will count for the players' standings and ladder scores but not affect the capture of planets at all.

- Minor bug and cosmetic fixes, such as team colors appearing wrong.

Updates For Week 2

- New page added for players to see matches played by each member of a team. Use the Team Matches link in the Navigation section.

- Teams have abbreviations now. Team owners can change the abbreviation in the owner's control panel.

- Reporting is easier now. There are two report links, labeled Declared and Undeclared. If you know the attack (on the map) to which a played match is being posted, use the Declared reporting page. Otherwise, use the Undeclared page and it will post the match to an appropriate attack.

- Ladder scores have been changed and updated. You now get 6.67% of the losing player's score added to your score for winning, and the losing player loses 5% of their score...in case you were wondering where the numbers came from anyway.

- Minor tweaks to the way old match data, wins/losses, and ladder points are stored. If you see any problems, let me know.

- Number of sectors owned are now on the map.

Competition Begins!

I've set up the four team we have with ten planets each. Team owners and moderators should select their attacks for the first round, which is to commence tomorrow.

This first week is going to be very disorganized, most likely. We do not currently have a working matchup bot, and I won't be able to be in #outerrim until at least 5:00 PM due to work.

Currently, the competition admins are:
Myself (Snappleguy)
Gavin
Daryus
Lamin

Reporters are:
Licah
Sair
Nately

If you cannot find anyone to report your score to, HAVE THE PERSON YOU PLAYED AGAINST AND YOURSELF EMAIL ME THE OUTCOME OF THE MATCH. My email address is snap@snappleguy.com, and I'll post your scores up as soon as I can.

The email must contain:
Your and your opponent's Fury Login name
Match outcome (who won, lost, or if a draw)
Score for each player (if applicable)
Kills for each player (if applicable)
Game played
Time/Date of match
Battle (on the map) the match is to be played for. (i.e. Battle between Fondor and Bilbringi)

I must receive the report from both people, and it must be identical. Please, remember to include all the info above so the report can be posted.

Once I get on #outerrim, this won't be necessary as you can report scores to me directly, but until then (2-5), you'll need to email me unless another reporter or admin is on.

If you have questions, ask me. If you're a team owner/moderator, set up your battles with the Attacking link on the site.

Ways to reach me:
Email: snap@snappleguy.com
AIM: snapplers1
ICQ: 35154322
IRC: SnapGuy or SnapWork (on the Undernet in #outerrim)

I hope you all have fun with this competition! See you around 5!

":-)
