Getting Started

Q: Do I have to select a team when registering?

A: Yes and no. You can either select to be on a team that already exists, or request that a new team be created. If you select a current team, a moderator from that team needs to allow you on. If you create your own team and the request is approved by an administrator, you will be the owner of that team.

Q: What if my request for a new team is declined?

A: You will have to contact an administrator to be placed onto a team. I will probably write a team selection form in the near future for people that have no team (due to this situation) to use.

Q: What if I join a current team but they don't let me on?

A: Once again, along the same lines, a page will be written for you to select a new team before you are placed on one. For the time being, contact an admin.

Q: What if I want to change teams?

A: Sorry, you cannot change teams until the game ends and the next competition starts. Everyone will have to re-register then.

Q: Once I register, how do I login?

A: The login window should appear automatically after you register. If not, click the login link on the left and provide your chosen username and password. Both fields are case-sensative.

Navigation

Q: What does everything on the map represent?

A: Use the legend on the bottom of the map to determine stuff. General rule for the game is Green = Your Team, Blue = Your Allies, Red = Enemy. Green Lines on the map are your outgoing attacks. Red lines are incoming attacks to YOUR sector. If the line is dashed, the same principle applies but with your allies instead of you. The legend below the map explains everything clearly.

Q: Why is a planet a different color than its name?

A: The planets themselves are color-coded based on alliances and your own team. The names of the planets represent teams in themselves. Team colors are chosen by the team owner.

Q: What do the colors in the roster represent? And those numbers?

A: The colors determine a member's status on the team. The team owner is in the blue bar with the team name. Members with red are team moderators. Black members are just normal players. The numbers represent the player's record in individual matches (Wins - Losses - Ties).

Q: What is represented in the Turn Summary?

A: Basically any attacks between sectors are shown for the round the attack was made in. Same colors apply that are on the map. Defended and Not Defended don't do anything...the defending team should set that to Defended merely to acknowledge that they are aware of the attack. It has no bearing on the game.

Q: What are borders?

A: Borders represent the paths between sectors that you can attack on. You can only attack a sector that one of your sectors shares a border with. (No cross-map attacking). Also, remember that if you border an enemy sector, they can attack you just as well as you can attack them. Allies that share borders can help you defend in the case of an enemy attack if they choose to.

Team Moderators and Owners

Q: How do I attack an enemy sector?

A: The attack page will show you a list of all your sectors that are CAPABLE of attacking an enemy, and the sectors that they can attack are listed in the menus. Just position the menus on all your attack choices and click the submit button. You can always go back and change your decisions. Combat over the weekend will be based on the attack selections.

Q: What is the defense page for?

A: Basically this shows you any attacks you have incoming to your sectors. The option to defend or not defend doesn't do anything except change the way that attack is marked. Use this feature to let the other team know that you know they're attacking you and that you know to show up and defend. If you have "Do Not Defend" selected, you can still defend your sector in the same way.

Q: So I can let people onto and kick them off my team?

A: Yes. Moderators and owners can let members that sign up for their team actually on the team, and kick members back to the "waiting" state. They will remain in the menu just in case you want to re-add them later without them re-registering and losing any stats. Note: You cannot kick the owner or moderators off the team.

Q: How do I control my alliances?

A: There are three statuses your alliances can be in: Current, Pending, or Requested. A current alliance is in full force and causes the ally's sectors and whatnot to show in blue. Pending means that you have offered an alliance to another team and are awaiting their response. Requested means an enemy team has offered an alliance to you and is awaiting your response. You may break an alliance at any time.

Q: What are my priveledges as team owner?

A: You can assign and unassign moderators for your team, and change your team's name, along with everything listed above. You can also select the color you team will be represented on the map by.

Administrators

Q: Why do teams require an admin's validation?

A: This is mainly to prevent join requests that spam new teams, and to make sure that the team is "for real." If you are awaiting authorization to join a team, please contact an administrator with a reason to have your team put in the competition. Also, teams that join late may not be allowed in and need an admin's authorization to join after the competition has started.

Q: When should sector and border administration be used?

A: These should only be used before a competition starts, or in the case that the map needs to be modified due to an unfair or stupid situation. These functions modify the map directly and may affect current and past attacks, so please refrain from using these once the game is underway unless it is absolutely necessary.

Q: When does the turn advance, and what happens when it does advance?

A: Turns should advance weekly, and an admin has to do it. Turn advancement is not automatic and should only be done once it is certain that all match reports are in. Advancing the turn calculates the new owners of sectors based on the result of the week's matches, updates the map for the new turn, archives old turn and attack data, and allows the teams to make new attacks for the new round.

Q: Do we have to manually assign teams to sectors?

A: Yes, at the beginning of a competiton, or if an admin decides that a battle should have gone the other way despite the results. Admins have the final discretion as to the results of battles (That's why they're admins).

Q: What are the different types of access levels?

A: There are technically four access levels: Basic member access, Reporting access, Admin access, and SuperAdmin access. Normal members can browse around and see the text and map colored based on their team. Members with access 1 (reporting) can post reports on matches, but nothing else. These people are entrusted to make sure reports are accurate. Admins can do anything listed above in the admin section except make other admins or reporters or strip members of their powers. Only a SuperAdmin can give someone admin/reporting rights and take them away. Admins have access 2, while SuperAdmins have access 3 (in case you were wondering).
