Funpoints guide

This guide is incomplete, but it should be fairly easy to see the goal of funpoints by reading it and looking at the available activities.

Activities

Funpoints activities should be Rebel Squadrons- or Star Wars-related, but exceptions can be made by the moderators.

Points

The maximum number of points per activity is ten. The average points earned per activity should be around three. The submitter of an activity cannot earn points for participating in that activity, but he or she will earn a certain amount of points for submitting that activity, determined by the moderators.

The amount of points awarded should be based on amount of time, work, and ingenuity. The submitter, and sometimes the moderators, choose how points are awarded; here is a rough guide to point amounts.
  • 1 - Under 5 minutes, e.g. voting on five quotes, making one short forum post, etc.
  • 2 - 5-15 minutes.
  • 3 - 15-30 minutes.
  • 4 - 30-45 minutes. This level and higher must be Rebel Squadrons- or Star Wars-related.
  • 5 - Around an hour. This should generally be the highest level for most activities.
  • 6 - 1-2 hours. Recommend awarding a minor medal along with this level and higher.
  • 7 - 2-3 hours.
  • 8 - 3-4 hours. Recommend awarding a major medal along with this level and higher.
  • 9 - 4-5 hours.
  • 10 - More than five hours.

It is clear that ten 1-point activities will take less time than one 10-point activity, so extra incentives should increase accordingly with the point value.

Examples

One of the best parts of funpoints is that the activities can take on nearly any form. However, if you are looking for some examples of acceptable funpoints activities, try these:

Adding funpoints

Only moderators may add funpoints at this time. To add funpoints for your activity, please send the moderators an email with the following pieces of information for each set of funpoints to be added:

  • Activity ID, found on the page describing your activity
  • PIN of the person to receive points
  • Number of points that the person will receive (within the bounds of your activity)
  • Comments or more information about why they received their points

Such a list is easily compiled in any spreadsheet program, or even a plain text editor. The comments are optional right now, but are strongly encouraged, as the moderators may ask you for them anyways if they have any questions about what people did in your activity. Additionally, you should also send a summary of the results to the moderators, so that they can update the activity's page with the results.
